Bridgestone Releases M788 Steer Tyre
Wide base Bridgestone M788 ideal for a broad range of on/off-road applications
Significant improvements in irregular wear resistance, deep tread for long life, new cut-chip resistant compound

Bridgestone has launched a new steer tyre – the M788 – which is specifically suited to off/on-road applications across Australia’s harsh environment.
The M788 – which is available in 385/65R22.5 and replaces the M748 – features a cut-chip resistant compound, further improving its abilities for off-road applications.
The deep tread depth delivers long wear life and the new tread pattern gives excellent resistance against irregular wear.
Claudio Sodano, Bridgestone’s General Manager TFS, said the M788 had been extensively tested with Bridgestone clients across the country.
“We have tested the product in on/off-road applications in mining regions in Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory,” he said.
“We have seen some outstanding results, particularly in terms of wear life when compared against the preceding tyre and the competition. In each instance, we were comparing the M788 against our M748 and competitor steer tyres and the M788 outperformed every one of them.”
The Bridgestone M788 is available nationally.
R168 Trailer Tyre on Display
Bridgestone will also showcase theR168 trailer tyre at the Melbourne International Truck and Trailer Show.
The R168 features a wider belt construction for long life, four main ribs to provide high tread stiffness and low trailer swing and a top body ply insert which improves durability and retreadability.
“Once again, this is a tyre that we have extensively tested with highway fleets running on major interstate routes,” Claudio said.
“The wear life test results have been outstanding. In every test we have conducted against our main competitor tyre, the R168 has come out on top. The mileage of the R168 has been huge – in fact, in one application the R168 gave a projected wear life of 350,000 kilometres in a drop-deck trailer application.
“We believe the Bridgestone R168 is the ultimate trailer tyre for wear life.”
The Bridgestone R168 will be available in all major trailer sizes.
