Key New Sizes Added To Dueler M/T 674 Range

More Australian 4WDs will be able to tackle the country’s muddiest tracks with ease, with the Bridgestone Dueler M/T 674 now available in 14 sizes to suit a range of vehicles. 

The two new additions – sizes 265/70R16 and 245/70R17 – are designed with light truck construction to fit medium and large utilities, large 4x4s and SUVs.

National Technical Field Service Manager Jon Tamblyn said Bridgestone was committed to the 4WD market and wanted to make its mud terrain tyre more accessible.

“Bridgestone Dueler A/Ts in 265/70R16 and 245/70R17 are extremely popular, but we haven’t had an M/T available in these sizes before,” Mr Tamblyn said.

“The range expansion is great news for people who want to use their vehicles in muddy and severe off-road conditions but haven’t been able to find a tyre to suit – now they can finally tackle some serious mud!

“The 265/70R16 suits some variants of the Nissan Navara, Toyota Landcruiser, Mitsubishi Pajero and Mitsubishi Triton, while the 245/70R17 will be the perfect fit for some Toyota Prado and Volkswagon Amarok drivers.”

Since its release last year, the Dueler M/T 674 has proven to deliver significantly improved off-road stability and wear life and all-round improved performance. 

Making use of advanced computer generation and virtual mapping techniques, Bridgestone developed a proprietary 3D approach to the tyre’s tread design, enhancing traction, handling and self-cleaning: 

• 3D grooves cut easily and efficiently into the mud;

• Specially designed 3D shoulder lugs enable the tread to grab the ground and then clean the mud off – meaning the tyres are self cleaning;

• A 3D buttress with a step/slope combination reduces tread stiffness variation, promoting improved mud traction; and

• A 3D upper sidewall supports mud traction in heavy conditions.

Mr Tamblyn said the new Bridgestone Dueler M/T 674 was revolutionary for its type and had delivered beyond expectations, even when pitted against the Dueler M/T 673 for extensive testing in Kalimantan. 

“The M/T 674 has been created to meet the intense demands of off-road driving, with high load capability and up to a 10 ply rating,” Mr Tamblyn said.
