Bridgestone Congratulates Leukaemia Foundation Volunteers

Bridgestone Australia has joined the Governor of South Australia to commend some of the State’s most dedicated volunteers at the Leukaemia Foundation Volunteer Awards.

During the ceremony on May 5, His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AO presented five, 10 and 15-year service awards to many worthy recipients.

Bridgestone Australia Managing Director Andrew Moffatt and Director Corporate Services and Risk Management Joanne Denley attended the event and applauded the efforts of volunteers.

“As a proud supporter of the Leukaemia Foundation we would like to congratulate, and extend our thanks, to the volunteers who dedicate their valuable time to helping blood cancer patients and their families,” Mr Moffatt said.

“We “They go out of their way to provide advice and guidance, drive patients to appointments, help raise funds for vital research and show people who are struggling that they’re not alone.

“The difference their dedication and service has made over the years, in some cases decades, is immeasurable and they deserve to be recognised.”

The awards ceremony was held at the Bridgestone Australia Leukaemia Foundation Village at Northfield – in Adelaide’s north-east – as part of 2015 National Volunteer Week.

Following the presentation, the official party took a tour of the village complex and its facilities.

Since opening in 2013, the Bridgestone Australia Leukaemia Foundation Village has provided free specialised accommodation and support services to patients and their families; mostly those from regional areas who have to travel to Adelaide for treatment
